San Quirico d'Orcia

Via FrancigenaUNESCO, Val d'Orcia since 2004
It was already a stop on the Via Francigena at the end of the 10th century, when Archbishop Sigeric of Canterbury noted it in his travel diary, and the route still crosses the town. The Collegiate Church of Saints Quiricus and Julitta was built between the late 12th and early 13th century. We suggest a pause in the Horti Leonini, an Italian garden laid out around 1581.

Bagno Vignoni

UNESCO, Val d'Orcia since 2004
A hamlet of San Quirico d'Orcia. In the middle of the village is the Piazza delle Sorgenti: instead of paving, a 16th-century rectangular pool fed by warm thermal water. These springs were already used in Roman times.
